Dr.Vikas Divyakirti, is an IAS trainer, Author, Lecturer and Founder and Managing Director of "Drishti IAS" coaching institute situated in Delhi. He is popular among UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam aspirants. He has taught for past two decades. He has Specialities in Hindi Sahitya, Philosphy, History and many subjects.He is also an author of the book 'Nibandh Drishti'.

Early Life

Dr. Vikas Divyakirti was born on 26 December 1976 in Bhiwani, Haryana. He did his schooling at Sarswati Shishu Mandir, Haryana.

 He completed his BA in History at Zakir Hussain College of Delhi University and then he completed his MA in Hindi Literature and Sociology from Delhi University.

Dr. Vikas Divyakirti had an interest in language translation so he completed his PG degree in English to Hindi translation from Delhi University.

 Dr. Vikas Divyakirti also holds an M. Phil, LLB, and a Ph.D.

Family

Dr. Vikas Divyakirti belongs to an educated family background where his Father who belongs to Arya Samaj, was a Professor, while his Mother was a School teacher in Haryana. Dr. Vikas Divyakirti has two elders Brothers. He is the youngest sibling.

Dr. Vikas Divyakirti is married to Dr. Taruna Verma. The couple has a sona named Satwik Divyakirti. 

Career

In 1996 , he cleared the UPSC exam at first attempt.He secured a rank of 384.He was assigned to the Ministry of Home Affairs. He worked in the department for a year and then He resigned from this job. 

In 1999 He founded the Drishti IAS Institute in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi. Dr. Vikas Divyakirti has a unique style of teaching which helps students preparing for the UPSC Exam. 

He is the editor of the current affairs monthly magazine called 'Drishti Current Affairs Today's.

In 2017,He started a YouTube channel named 'Drishti IAS' on which he uploads study materials, Lectures, and exam preparing videos to help the student preparing for UPSC Exam. The channel has 9.69 million subscribers. 

Controversy

When Dr. Vikas gave a lecture to UPSC aspirants in Nov 2022,he compared Sita with 'Ghee licked by Dog' in a viral video.During his lecture, he told that the Rama did not fight the war with the Ravana for Sita since she was not eligible for him, and Rama found her like the 'Ghee licked by the Dog'.On Social media he was trolled for his remarks and #BanDrishtiIAS became a trending hashtag.
